proper nounAlso: Journal of Machine Learning Research, PMLR, Proceedings of Machine Learning Research, TMLR, Transactions on Machine Learning Research

In plain wordsA top machine learning journal, started in 2000 by researchers who wanted an alternative to commercial publishing, that costs nothing to read or to publish in.

  1. The Journal of Machine Learning Research, a community-run machine learningmachine learning, n.: A way of building software that learns from examples instead of following rules written by a programmer. Shown thousands of labeled photos, for instance, a program can learn to recognize cats. journal that charges neither readers nor authors, an early model of 'diamond' open access. It publishes long theoretical and methodological papers as well as a track for open-source software; notable articles include latent Dirichlet allocation (2003), scikit-learn (2011) and dropoutdropout, n.: A training trick that randomly switches off a fraction of a network's neurons at each step, so the network cannot lean too heavily on any one of them and learns sturdier patterns. (2014). Its sister series, the Proceedings of Machine Learning Research (PMLR), publishes the proceedings of ICMLICML, prop. n.: A leading machine learning conference, first held as a workshop in 1980, where researchers gather each summer to present new learning methods and theory., AISTATS, COLT and other conferences. A newer journal in the same spirit, Transactions on Machine Learning Research (TMLR, 2022), reviews submissions openly on OpenReviewOpenReview, prop. n.: A website where conference papers are submitted and peer reviewed; for some conferences, anyone can read the reviews and the authors' replies. on a rolling basis and judges them on correctness and interest rather than perceived significance.

Origin
